Azerbaijan top karate at Solidarity Games

Baku Sports Hall will be host to a number of sports in 2017 including Karate, which will take place at the hall over two days. With 12 medal events, male and female athletes will compete for gold in the Kata and Kumite events. Karate is one of the fastest growing combat sports in the world and it will, for the first time, be part of the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. Karate involves a variety of techniques, including blocks, strikes, evasions, throws, and joint manipulations. Karate training is divided into three aspects: "kihon" (basic techniques), "kata" (sequence of movements), and "kumite" (sparring).
