Shooting

There will be 5 days of competition at the Baku Shooting Centre which is a world class shooting facility. Medal hopefuls will have opportunities to compete across a number of individual and team events covering pistol, rifle, and shotgun firearms. Each disciplines includes multiple events, varying from the target, position, and type of sport gun. Shooting has a rich history dating back to the formation of its first sport clubs in the 13th century.

The sport evolved following the development of arms and munitions manufacturing, and eventually became more regimented thanks to the founding of governing bodies and shooting associations. Shooting was included on the first Olympic programme in 1896 and has appeared at every Games since other than the St Louis 1904 and Amsterdam 1928 Games. Electronic targets were introduced at the Barcelona 1992 Games as a way to improve accuracy.
