International Volunteer Day celebrated in Baku

On Monday 5 December celebrations for International Volunteer Day were held in Baku. Representatives from four of Azerbaijan’s largest voluntary programs came together in order to enthuse volunteers in the country and create solidarity between the different organisations. With the attendance of more than 200 volunteers, representatives of Baku 2017, the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, Baku City Circuit, State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan and “ONE” Student Volunteer Program took part in the program and called all young enthusiastic people to be the part of major international sports event. During the event young people were informed about the type of activities you can expect to undertake as a volunteer.

Volunteering plays a crucial role in the personal development of young people, as well as, contributing to the future of Azerbaijan, it was stressed in the speech of delegates. Corporate Director of Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games Operations Elchin Safarov mentioned volunteers’ role as a specific factor in the success of major events. As well as an invaluable opportunity for young people to represent Azerbaijan in the international arena and urged young people to take advantage of this opportunity. The event was followed by a concert of young musicians.
